Pledge
Armenia, the Holocaust, Cambodia, the 1988 Massacre in Iran, Srebrenica, Rwanda, Darfur and Syria… these are some of the heaviest tragedies in human history.
In the past 150 years, tens of millions of men, women and children have lost their lives in genocide or massacres. Millions have been tortured, raped or forced from their homes.
After each massacre, many voice their regret and condemn these acts, but we need to act to put an end to the cycle and prevent such atrocities from taking place.
By not acting, we give a green light for the continuation of these crimes against humanity and by doing nothing, we tell the tyrants they can act with impunity.
Today in Iran, nearly 30 years after the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in the summer of 1988, mass executions continue with a recorded execution every 8 hours and at times with group executions carried out daily to spread fear in society and maintain the dictatorship.
Today we have come together to put an end to the inaction and to put a halt to these atrocities.
By signing this pledge, “I proudly and publicly declare that I will #rise4justice.”
First,
I hereby publicly and proudly affirm my refusal to be submissive to crimes against humanity, and stand by the Iranian people as they pursuit to seek justice for the 1988 Massacre and to end the impunity of the perpetrators of these crimes, who to this day hold key positions in the regime and continue the slaughter of innocent women and men in Iran.
Second,
in a proud and public commitment to the resolve of the Iranian people, I hereby pledge to take at least one direct action to honor my rise
